Hello everyone.
I figured I would say hi to everyone, I've never tried airsoft before but I have been thinking about it for the last few years. A buddy of mine almost got me into it but he moved out west so that killed the push I was getting to start. He sent me some info on some of the games he was in out there and it fired back up my interest. I was looking at getting a ICS MP5 A4 but have been holding back as I wanted to be sure it would get used before I ordered it. Hopefully on the next event near Moncton I can find the time to go out and take a look.
As for a bit about myself, I'm 27, with a wife and two kids, I've been in Moncton for about 7 years now. I've been racing r/c cars for around 6 years and honestly this seems a hobby with a bit more control over the amount of cash you need to spend to continue to have fun.
Well thats about it for me for now. I still have a lot of reading to do between this forum and a few others before I have a idea about what I'm talking about when it comes to this stuff. If anyone has any info they think I should know about the ics mp5a4 feel free to let me know.
Welcome!
I'm in Moncton too, if you have questions you can add me to MSN if you want. jeremieleger506@hotmail.com
Cheers.

Thanks for the replies. and thanks Jeremie for letting me check out your stuff.
I think me getting a ICS gun might not happen though. It seems no one can get them. (from what I can find) 007airsoft.com from what I'm told cant get guns anymore, (probably the same thing that happened with buyairsoft.ca) and A&A doesn't get ICS stuff...
Off to option #2 CA from what I heard there new stuffs good. Does anyone any experience with there new guns? I was talking to my buddy who has a CA M15 A1 and he said there stuff is top notch, better then ICS. But I still rather have as much info as I can get before I order anything.

007 has been getting guns in lately
as for the CA beng better than ICs, i'd say they are on par with one another. ICS has the advantage of a split mechbox... assuming you get an armalite. CA does have some compatability issues if you try and add after market parts. People tend to swear by what ever they use, i am guilty of this too
one more thing, there are restricted group orders that come from asia. You can basically get what ever you want and usually for cheaper than Canadian retailers sell it. you may however have to wait up to a month or in worst case senarios 5 for stuff to get to you.

A month isn't a big deal, I rather wait then pay a arm and a leg from 007. 5 months would kinda suck though...
I don't think I have seen a mp5 with a split box yet.

good reason...
I just got email from A&A they can get ICS stuff but usually don't. I just have to fire him off a email with the part # of what I want. Now just to make up my mind....

Well I made up my mind. mp5 it is. I know a m4 would probably be better for range but I'm sure I'll manage. (and if it doesn't, it will give me a reason to get a 2nd)
I should have some gear fairly soon as well, Cadpat stuff to get me going. Just need a few more peaces and I'll be ready to roll.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I am fairly sure the range doesn't change depending on the gun its self, just the strength of the spring in the gun. The range depends on the feet per second of the AEG, and that range will drop if you put a heavier BB in it (i am told, heavier BB = more control, but I'm a noob too).
Welcome by the way, Im in Fredericton (for the school year). Hope to you see you out at a game!

Its because it has a shorter barrel that the range goes down. The MP5's barrel is 229mm and the M4 is either 363mm. It keeps the bb going straighter longer.
Thanks for the welcome.
I haven't been around this long but I'm having a blast so far.

Oh so the barrel length does count with airsoft. I knew it did in real firearms, I'll have to keep that in mind if I decide to go get one of my own lol.
There are a series of things. Heavier bb's will seem to travel straighter longer but drop off suddenly. Barrels effect distance because the longer the tight bore usually the higher the fps and the faster the bb's flight is stabilized. Hopup is a huge factor also.
