I'm a reservist from PEI and stumbled across some pics of guys in Cadpat carrying weapons and my curiosity peaked. What is airsoft exactly? How do u operate? If there's anyone from PEI whos willing to answer some questions it would be appreciated. BTW there was some mention of playing in T Hill near the Alexandra Firing Range (on PEI) ,be careful as the Prince Edward Island Regiment also operates there and it might end up in an interesting encounter. Any information that could be provided would be greatly accepted. Thanks.

Heres the best meaning of 'airsoft' i have found.... :)

The Meaning of Airsoft (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airsoft)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Airsoft is a military simulation sport somewhat similar in nature to paintball, in which players participate in mock combat with authentic military-style weapons and tactics. Unlike paintball, which uses paint-balls as projectiles, Airsoft guns usually use 6 mm spherical projectile (pellet) made typically with injection-molded ABS plastic. The 'weapons' used in Airsoft are generally exact full size replicas of military weapons such as the Colt M16, H&K MP5.

The sport is extremely popular in eastern Asia, in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, where real arms are difficult or impossible to obtain because of local laws. For this reason the vast majority of airsoft guns, accessories, and aftermarket upgrade parts are made in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea. Airsoft has been since made illegal in most parts of Mainland China (the Hong Kong SAR being
apparently excepted). There is currently a growing interest in the West again, especially in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Denmark, bolstered by an active and expanding Internet scene.

Types of Games-

There are two (2) main types of Airsoft games,
Milsims (Military Simulations) are the most common Airsoft Game, Where objectives are attempted to achieved (example will be provided further)
Scims (Scrimmages) are when two teams are put into an area where they are hit instantly with combat, usually non-stop; some of these are even used in Milsims (Example- Capture the Flag, Hostage Rescue, Building Assault, Team Defend) depending on the objectives.

Recce, If you're not in the Comm unit here, I'm guessing your deployed with our Recce Reserve... if thats the case, contact Corp Coady (Tyler) he's an airsofter in your unit.

Also, I run Atlantic Armory, I'm in C'town and Yes we do play in that area. If you're of age, drop me a private message on here and we can meet for a beer I'll tell you all about airsoft.
