Hi Folks;

Long-time Paintballer here.... I'm actually looking to pick up some Airsoft gear (our crew has always discussed playing airsoft along with paintball) and figured that I might as well stick my neck out into the Atlantic forums since I live here in Halifax.

I've been looking at Tokyo Marui stuff for a while now, haven't quite decided what I want. Any suggestions/opinions would be welcome.

So.. yeah thats about it.

For those inclined, here is the field I've worked/played at for the past six years -- www.merseyroad.com

Cheers,

-Juno

Hey Juno, welcome to the forums. There are 2 easy ways to learn more about airsoft.
1. Come out to a game and meet some airsofters.
2. Read and post on Airsoft Forums.

Now as far as No. 1, that's gonna be kinda difficult due to the cold temps were bound to encounter soon. So I suggest you try No. 2 until a game is posted.

While this is a great spot for meeting airsofters in the local area....and Halifax has a good player base who do know there shit, the best thing to do is take a look at the retail sites and narrow down (personal preference) which weapons you'd like to inquire about. Most of these weapons have been reviewed at airsoftcanada.com (ASC). Remember, when asking for opinions, it's all personal preference....

The best advice I can offer is read a lot, search the forums for information, and don't think cheap. Tokyo Mauri, ICS and CA make up the better end of the weapons manufacturers, and you'll see most players are using those brands.

Step one should be, get age verified. Come out to a game before you sink to much into it..... It may not be you're thing... and renting a gun for $35 for a game is easier to take than dropping $500-$1000 and not liking the sport afterward.

I've had no problem sinking $2000 this year into new gear for paintball, Airsoft shouldn't bother me too much. :D

Really looking at Tokyo Marui P90s, M4s and their MP5 SD5.

Understandable that its getting cold out for Airsoft, we played 'ball on Sunday and it was pretty frigid.

Glad to hear the community is tight about age restrictions.

Does everyone wear masks/faceguards? Or is it typically just some sort of Eye-Protection?

Most of our members wear eye protection such as goggles, impact glasses, as long as they'll with stand a 6mm bb at close range and have good coverage around the eye area (no gaps) you're good to go. I use Advancer 12 ballistic rated eye protection, it's overkill at $140 as one of my fellow airsofters uses a pair of $10 lenses.

We still might be able to get a game in this winter if we have the interest and cooperating weather. Most of the players use some sort of M4/M16 variant. Someone took a pic of the guns used this weekend. Most were armalites, with a couple AK's, a FAMAS, MP5 SD5, and an M14. All guns worked well, and after a while some batteries went dead, but that's the nature of batteries.

If you have any questions on specific guns, post them in the weapons discussion area and we'll try to answer them in a timely fashion.

Is it just you who are interested in joining the airsoft ranks or is some of your team thinking of it also?

A few of my crew has mentioned interest in it but I'm the primary push for it, it seems. We've been discussing it the past few nights.

it was 3 0n 3 last time and we did alright, but keep in mind there little pick up games, and we were running comms. lets not get the blood boiling boys, were all atlantic players. then again, we could alwasy just look to ontario. : )

lets not get the blood boiling boys, were all atlantic players.

This is probably the smartest thing i ever heard you say. Also the truest.

This is the reason i've never supported the idea of teams around here...

ill take that smart thing as a compliment, and teams are just for keeping things organized, i just want to have fun. plus the guys in fredericton doesnt sound as cool as f3. im for teams.

Don

Yeah, i'm not against the team thing, i just don't really see the point in such a small commuinity.

It's like you said , we're all Atlantic players.

Wizard

thats true, not much point seperating such a small group.

Shut the fuck up Donnie.... you have no frame of reference....
j/k (if you don't get it, watch The Big Lebowski)

I'm so frickin stoked for that ontario game. I'd love to see a good size group of Rangers go up there with the Fredericton players. Be nice if everyone was wearing their AAS patches also. If you don't have them, get off your ass and buy a couple.

Not sure if we're talking about the same one, but yeah, we got raped.

Raped so much, I'll mispell it for emphasis.

Raeped.

However, it was fun for everyone, and that's what counts- now I'm used to the new FAMAS, hopefully I'll do a bit better next game.

Thanks to everyone who was nice to the new guy (Rocky), he's definately coming back for more.

Either way, I see no point in inter-province, or even inter-team hostility. We're all in the same organization and this is all for fun, there shouldn't really be 'We're better then you, you guys suck more balls then a midget hooker, etc' sentiment going around.

midget hooker.....ahhh... good times eh Bob......lol..
